What is Complex Trauma?

  Most of us are familiar with “trauma”: Stressful, frightening, or distressing experiences that are difficult to cope with. Complex trauma isn't just about a single bad experience. It occurs when someone goes through multiple traumatic events over a long period, often starting when they’re young. Usually, it involves being hurt by people who are supposed to care for you.
